New directive: All weekly bazars/ haats in rural area of Cachar shut till 19 Julyনতুন নির্দেশ, কাছাড়ের গ্রামের সব সাপ্তাহিক বাজার বন্ধ
This order valid from 7 PM of 10 July to 7 AM of 19 July
July 10: There are a good number of Biweekly/ weekly Hat/ Bazaars (Market) in the rural areas under Cachar district where huge gatherings are seen. Apart from local villagers, peoples from adjacent villages also come to the market. A large number of traders/ businessmen from outside those area also come to those markets for trade, which become vulnerable places for spread of COVID-19.
Further, it is seen that people are not maintaining social distancing protocol which is mandatory as per SOP to contain the further spread of COVID-19. In this regard, District Administration Cachar has issued orders time to time asking people to maintain social distancing/ avoid crowding etc. But inspite of this, positive cases are detected in many areas in Cachar district.
It is in this backdrop that Keerthi Jalli, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar in the capacity as the Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 passed an order in the interest of maintenance of public health, hygiene and in view of containing further spread of COVID-19. In the said order, it was stated that, “All/ bi-weekly/ weekly Hat/ evening Bazaars will remain closed in the entire district.”
This order shall come into force from 7.00 PM of 10 July, 2020 and remain in force till 7.00 AM of 19 July, 2020. Any person violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides legal action/ penalty as per IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.
