New body of AUTA formed with Shahin Ara Begum as President & Devashish Sengupta as GS

May 8: The Annual General Meeting of Assam University Teachers Association (AUTA) was held in the university premises on Wednesday. In this connection, a new committee of AUTA was formed. Prof. G.Ram was replaced by Dr. Shahin Ara Begum as the President of this prestigious association. Dr. Shahin Ara was elected unopposed. Further, Dr. N. Bijen Meetei was also elected unopposed for the post of Treasurer. Dr. Amalendu Chakraborty became the Vice-President of the new committee of AUTA.

However, election was held for the posts of General Secretary and Joint Secretaries. The battle of ballots for the post of General Secretary took place between Dr. Devashish Sengupta and Dr. Murali Basa. However, Basa was defeated by Sengupta. Dr. Devashish Sengupta will replace Prof. Alok Tripathi as the General Secretary of AUTA.

New office bearers of AUTA

There are two posts of Joint Secretaries for which again election was held. There were a total of three candidates who contested for the two posts of Joint Secretaries. They were- Dr. Amitabha Bhattacharjee, Somaditya Dutta and Dr. Biswaranjan Roy. Out of the three, Biswaranjan Roy was defeated. The two posts of Joint Secretaries were bagged by Dr. Amitabha Bhattacharjee and Somaditya Dutta
