New AURSF Executive Committee Meets Registrar

way2barak, April 12: A formal meeting was convened on April 11, between the newly formed Executive Committee (Working) of the Assam University Research Scholars’ Forum (AURSF) and the Registrar of Assam University, Silchar. The primary objective of the meeting was to facilitate mutual understanding and collaboration in matters concerning the academic welfare of research scholars. Ten members from the AURSF Executive Committee attended the meeting, representing the collective voice of the research community.
The Registrar officially acknowledged AURSF as a purely academic body and emphasized that the Forum should remain focused on addressing academic issues and promoting the scholarly interests of the research community. The University also formally accepted the new Executive Committee, and a copy of the minutes of the last General Body meeting, along with the list of committee members, was submitted to the Registrar’s office for record. Furthermore, the importance of drafting a well-structured constitution for the Forum was highlighted. The Registrar recommended a careful and inclusive approach, suggesting that the drafting process be undertaken in consultation with experienced faculty members, specifically Prof. Piyush Pandey (Director, IQAC) and Prof. Anindya Syam Choudhury (Former DSW), to ensure institutional alignment.
The meeting also addressed several concerns regarding academic infrastructure, particularly related to library facilities. The issue of water scarcity on campus was acknowledged, and the Registrar informed that the University is currently constructing two new water borings to resolve the problem and prevent future disruptions. In response to the Forum’s request for a dedicated space for research scholars in the Central Library, the Registrar assured a personal visit to assess the condition of the previously proposed basement area and initiate necessary renovation. Additionally, the proposal to extend library hours until 10:00 P.M. was positively received, and the Registrar affirmed that complete digitalization of the University Library would be achieved within the current financial year.
