National Fish Farmers’ Day observed in Cachar

July 11: As a part of National Fish Farmers’ Day 2020, District Fishery Department along with Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli handed over a cheque of Rs.5 lakh to a beneficiary, Ashish Sudradhar against the RAS on Friday. The cheque was given in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner. National Fish Farmers’ Day is celebrated on 10 July every year marking the start of blue revolution in India.

Further, fish seeds were distributed among 5 fish farmers from the Islamabad Fish Seed Farm at Bhaga. The induced breeding technology was invented by the prof K. H Alikurni and Hiralal Choudhury on 10 July 1957. To commemorate their exploits, the National Fish Farmers’ Day is observed every year on 10 July.
