N.C. College, Badarpur requisitioned for setting up quarantine centre from 15 May
May 14: As more and more people are now coming back to Assam from outside states in special trains and buses, they will now have to be put under strict institutional quarantine. Further, schools and colleges will now be used as quarantine centres. This was informed in a press briefing by State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma. In this connection, educational institutions too were requisitioned in Barak Valley.
In an order issued on 14 May, Anbamuthan MP, in the capacity of District Magistrate & Chairman, DDMA, Karimganj, stated that, considering the urgency & necessity in the prevailing situation, Nabin Chandra College, Badarpur along with existing facilities has been requisitioned for setting up a quarantine centre with effect from 15 May, 2020 until further order. A copy of the said order was also marked to the Principal of N.C. College, Badarpur requesting him to hand over the college to the district administration on 15 May, 2020.
