58 tests Covid +ve in Hailakandi on Wednesday, 158 discharged & 1 death registered

June 9: Hailakandi registered 58 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 58 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 55 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 03 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 1,104 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 2,429 RAT tests and 201 RT-PCR tests were done. 158 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 6,938. As of now, a total of 2,429 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 66 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday.

As of now, in the 58,328 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 16,851 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 8 June to 5 PM on 9 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Of the 04 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district, while 01 each are from Karimganj and Hailakandi. The deceased from Hailakandi was identified as:

• Namor Ali (71) from Hailakandi got admitted at SMCH on 4 June. He expired at 11.30 AM on 9 June.
