Red or such other categorisation only when COVID-19 cases exceed 200 in any district: Himanta
May 21: The Assam government has given up the policy of categorising district or areas as red, orange or green. However, if COVID-19 cases exceeds 200 in any district, then that particular district will be categorised as red or by some such other nomenclature. This was informed by State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at NHM office in Guwahati on Thursday.
The minister further said that the Deputy Commissioners along with the district health authority will mark areas as containment zone and buffer zone as and when positive cases are detected. The state government is no more going to convert an entire zone into red or orange but only localised areas of detection will be marked as containment zone. However, if the number of COVID-19 cases crosses 200 mark in any district than that district will be categorised as red.
As regards containment and buffer zones, the minister said, containment zones are same as that of red zones, while buffer zone means orange zone. Limited activities will be permitted in such zones.
