Mobile ICTC van flagged off to strengthen HIV prevention and care services in Cachar

way2barak, June 2:— In a significant initiative aimed at expanding access to HIV prevention, testing and counselling services across Cachar district, the Mobile Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) Van under the Assam State AIDS Control Society was officially launched and flagged off on Tuesday by District Commissioner of Cachar, Aayush Garg.

The flag-off ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Sumona Naiding, Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, along with officials of the Health Department and other stakeholders associated with HIV prevention and awareness programmes.

The Mobile ICTC Van has been introduced to take essential HIV-related services directly to communities, particularly in vulnerable and high-risk hotspot areas of the district. Equipped to provide HIV testing, counselling and outreach services, the mobile unit is expected to play a crucial role in improving access to healthcare among key populations, high-risk groups and other vulnerable sections of society.

Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that the initiative reflects the continued commitment of the district administration and the health department towards strengthening community-based healthcare interventions and ensuring that critical services reach people who may otherwise face barriers in accessing them.

The deployment of the Mobile ICTC Van is expected to enhance awareness, encourage early detection and facilitate timely counselling and support services, thereby contributing to ongoing efforts to prevent and control HIV/AIDS in the district.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking another important step in strengthening public health outreach and promoting greater awareness about HIV prevention and care in Cachar.

This is stated in a press release issued by Regional office of Information & Public Relations Barak valley Zone Silchar Assam.
