Minister Suklabaidya expresses shock & dismay over loss of 6 jawans along Assam-Mizoram border

Parimal Suklabaidya on the way to Cachar to take stock of situation

July 26: Minister for Environment and Forest, Parimal Suklabaidya expressed deep shock and dismay over the loss of six of Assam Police personnel while protecting the territorial integrity of Assam along the inter-state border with Mizoram on Monday.

“Deeply shocked and pained that six of our Assam Police personnel lost their lives while protecting the territorial integrity of Assam at Lailapur along the Assam-Mizoram inter-state border today. Several police jawans and scores of civilians sustained injuries.” The Minister, whose Dholai constituency falls along the border expressed heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.

Suklabaidya thanked Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking all the necessary measures to ensure speedy recovery of the injured Assam Police personnel and 61 civilians and for ‘betterment of our people with utmost dedication’. The Minister said the video footage showed ‘how aggressive and violent acts were displayed by Mizoram side towards our police and civilians despite our people maintaining the highest patience and defended themselves’. Suklabaidya is on the way to Cachar to take stock of the situation.
