Silchar recorded 73.8%, Karimganj polled 72.9% till 7 PM

April 18: Voting for the Phase II of Lok Sabha Election 2019 in 1461 and 1721 polling stations respectively for the Silchar and Karimganj Parliamentary Constituencies has come to an end. Apart from Silchar and Karimganj, polling in the second phase of the Lok Sabha Election on 18 April also took place in Mangaldai, Autonomous District (ST) and Nagaon.

An estimated 73.32 per cent voter turnout has been recorded in Assam in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls at 7 PM on 18 April. The final polling percentage is likely to increase as many of the returning officers in over 1,000 remote polling stations across these five constituencies are yet to update the office of the Chief Electoral Officer here regarding poll percentage. The final figure will be released only after all the polling parties returns. The overall polling percentage in 2014 Lok Sabha poll across the 14 constituencies was 80.13 percent.

However, at 7 PM, the following data was released (which is likely to increase):

  1. Silchar: 73.08 percent
  2. Karimganj (SC): 72.09 percent
  3. Autonomous District (Diphu): 69.51 percent
  4. Mangaldoi: 75.07 percent
  5. Nowgong: 75.71 percent

Silchar Lok Sabha Constituency: (At 7 PM) (likely to increase):

  • Silchar Assembly Constituency: 73.60%
  • Sonai Assembly Constituency: 73.60%
  • Dholai Assembly Constituency: 72.60%
  • Udharbond Assembly Constituency: 74.40%
  • Lakhipur Assembly Constituency: 73.90%
  • Barkhola: Assembly Constituency: 75.00%
  • Katigorah Assembly Constituency: 74.50%

Karimganj Lok Sabha Constituency: (At 7 PM) (likely to increase):

  • Ratabari Assembly Constituency: 78.27%
  • Patharkandi Assembly Constituency: 73.94%
  • Karimganj North Assembly Constituency: 72.75%
  • Karimganj South Assembly Constituency: 70.01%
  • Badarpur Assembly Constituency: 75.98%
  • Hailakandi Assembly Constituency: 70.30%
  • Katlichera Assembly Constituency: 69.55%
  • Algapur Assembly Constituency: 73.66%

The luck of 50 candidates of five Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam are now stored in the EVMs. Counting of votes will be taken up on May 23rd, 2019 after completion of the entire seven-phase voting across the country.
