Militant group ULFA has extended ceasefire for 3 more months

Aug 14: In a welcome move, militant organisation United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has extended ceasefire for 3 more months. Expressing his reaction, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday  appreciated the decision of ceasefire announced by ULFA and appealed them to return to mainstream.

CM Sarma said, “Definitely, this is a very positive and encouraging announcement. Moreover, ULFA has also given up this time their tradition of convening bandh during the Independence Day., which is also an appreciable decision by the outfit. This step of ULFA during the ongoing Covid pandemic deserves appreciation. I hope that this ceasefire lasts permanently. I further believe that under the leadership of ULFA supremo Paresh Baruah, they will definitely come back to the mainstream with full honour.”
