Mile Kadam, Jude Vatan: Congress launches website for ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’

The yatra to begin on 7 Sept will pass through 12 states & culminate in Jammu and Kashmir - spanning 3,500 km in about 150 days

Aug. 23: Congress party on Tuesday officially launched Bharat Jodo Yatra, which will begin on September 7 from Kanyakumari. Congress unveiled the logo, tagline ‘Mile Kadam, Jude Watan’ and website of the 3,570 km ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, which is described by the party as the biggest ‘padayatra’ in the country. Veteran leaders Jairam Ramesh and Digvijaya Singh jointly launched the detailed programme of the event.

Those who wish to participate in the yatra can register on the website bharatjodoyatra.in, senior Congress leaders Digvijaya Singh and Jairam Ramesh. The Yatra, which aims to unite the country, protect India’s diversity, ensure equality and end hatred will pass through 12 states and two Union Territories before culminating in Jammu and Kashmir. It will span a distance of nearly 3,500 kilometres in a time period of about 150 days.

Digvijaya Singh, the convenor of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, said there will be 100 ‘padayatris’ called ‘Bharat Yatris’ who will walk from start to finish. Around 100 people — Athithi Yatris — from the states through which this yatra is not passing will join the main yatra while another 100 — Pradesh Yatris — from the state will also join, taking the total number of padayatris to 300 at a time.
