Mild quake jolts North East

way2barak, June 8: A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck near Punakha, Bhutan, at 11.06 pm on Sunday, sending strong tremors across Barak Valley, Guwahati, Shillong and other parts of Northeast India.
The National Centre for Seismology noted that the quake originated at a shallow depth of approximately 10 kilometres, causing buildings to sway for several seconds in the region.


Local residents in Barak Valley, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Shillong and parts of Arunachal Pradesh reported feeling the sudden jolt, leading many to panic and rush out into open spaces.
No immediate injuries or major infrastructure damages have been reported in Northeast.
