Markets in Karimganj sanitised, BSF ensures lockdown in villages along Indo-bangla border

March 26: Thursday marks the second day of the three-week lockdown period in the country. In Barak Valley though there are till now no reports of any coronavirus positive case, yet due to rumours spread by many across social media platforms, a tensed atmosphere was prevailing in the districts of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi since the last few days. All the three districts of Barak Valley have adopted precautionary measures in case of outbreak of COVID-19.

Karimganj District Administration with the help of district fire service has cleaned and sanitised the markets of the town. The district administration along with the municipal authorities are leaving no stones unturned to keep the markets clean.

Further the Border Security Forces also swung into action to ensure that the lockdown is observed by the people especially in the villages along the Indo-Bangla border.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 681, out of which 625 were active cases. Till now 43 persons have recovered. The death toll in India has reached 13. On Thursday (till 2 PM)  24 new cases were reported in the country.
