ASTC donates AC Bus to ferry cancer patients from Assam Bhawan to hospitals in Mumbai

Dec. 9: The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has come up with a significant move to help those patients who goes to Mumbai for treatment of cancer. In this connection, ASTC has donated a fully air-conditioned Bharat Benz Bus to ferry the cancer patients (of Assam) who are staying at Mumbai Assam Bhawan to various hospitals in Mumbai including the Tata Memorial hospital. The bus service shall be absolutely free of cost and will be maintained and sponsored by the Deepsikha Foundation.

Ashok Kumar Bhattarai, Chairman of ASTC formally inaugurated the service in Mumbai on 9 December, 2020 in presence of Dr. Jyotirmoy Das, President of Assam Association, Mumbai and it’s other members. It needs mention that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowari had already declared that such a service would be launched ‘to empower and support patients from Assam going to Mumbai for treatment of cancer.’
