Man who returned to Rajasthan from US tests +ve for XBB 1.5 Covid variant

way2barak, Jan.4: The first case of the XBB.1.5 sub-variant of Omicron in Rajasthan has been detected in a man from Sikar who returned from the United States (US) on December 19, a senior official said on Wednesday. The variant is responsible for the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the US.

Chief medical health officer (CMHO), Jaipur, Dr Vijay Foujdar said the man had a fever on December 22 and he was tested positive for Covid. “The genome sequencing report arrived today has detected the new variant XBB 1.5,” he added. A medical team has been sent for sampling of relatives and people he came in contact.
