Man jumps in front of train to commit suicide, driver applies emergency brake

Nov. 21: All of a sudden, a man aged around 40 jumped in front of the moving train on the track at Platform number 3 of Kamakhya Railway station in Guwahati on last Wednesday. However, the driver of the approaching train could spot the man jumping on the track from a distance and immediately applied emergency brake to stop the train. The incident happened at around 8.30 in the evening.

At once a hue and cry was raised. Immediately on-duty RPF staff rushed there and took out the man from under the engine. Though he was saved but he sustained minor injuries. It was then found out that the man was mentally disturbed. His family members were then called by the RPF and was handed over to them. The promptness exhibited by the train driver saved the man from the mouth of death.
