Man calls COVID-19 helpline to deliver hot samosas, made to clean drain as punishment
March 30: In a bizarre incident, a youth from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh called up the district magistrate’s COVID-19 control room and asked for hot samosas with chutney. Amidst lockdown, the control room was functioning to help people in distress. Despite being ticked off by the control room, he kept calling and asking for four samosas. Being irritated by the repeated calls, Rampur District Magistrate decided to teach him a lesson and set a precedent.

Sharing a picture of the man on Twitter, District Magistrate of Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur said, “The man was harassing the control room.” As a punishment for troubling officials during lockdown, he also sent out an order for the youth to clean the drain. Later, the district magistrate shared pictures of the youth cleaning the drain on his Twitter handle though he did not name the youth.
