Major accident at Bhanga in Karimganj, 3 feared dead & more than 30 injured

July 23: In a major street accident, two travelers met with a major accident on Wednesday. As per initial information, it was learnt that atleast 3 passengers were feared dead on the spot and around 30 others were injured. One cycle peddler was also learnt to have lost his life in the accident. The death toll is expected to rise.

Eye witnesses revealed that they have heard a loud bang when the two vehicles collided at a great speed. At once,  people of the locality gathered there. In fact, after collision, the traveler vehicles fell into a road side pond. People were helping out the passengers to come out from the vehicles.

In fact from a CCTV footage available, it can be seen that it was not a head-on collision. Rather it was an incident of over taking at a high speed. The reckless driving & unhealthy competition among the vehicle drivers is the prime cause of this accident.

The three who died in the accident has been identified as

• Sitangshu Sharma S/O Late Surendra Mahanta from Sarpur (cycle rider).
• Aloy Bhushan Dhar, S/O late Asutosh Dhar from Bipin Paul Road Karimganj
• Harish Chandra Dutta Choudhury S/O Priyamoy Dutta Choudhury from Lakhibazar Road Karimganj
