Announcement purportedly issued from Twitter account of Assam CM about postponement of reopening of schools is FAKE
Classes from HS to PG level to start from 1st week of September: Assam Cabinet
Aug. 28: “This is an important announcement that schools are not going to open from September. It is postponed to November as Covid cases in the state are not yet controlled ,further details will be announced.” Well, this is a fake announcement, purportedly issued from the Twitter account of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The fake announcement bears the stamp of being issued on 26 August, 2021. This fake announcement was also noticed by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma himself.
Taking to his twitter handle, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the image of the fake announcement and wrote, “A fake announcement, purportedly issued from my Twitter account, about non opening of schools is being circulated on WhatsApp. This is a fake message and should not be given heed to.” The Chief Minister further tagged Assam Police in his tweet and asked to file an FIR.

It needs mention here that the Assam Cabinet this week has decided to reopen schools and colleges from HS to PG from 1st weekof September, 2021. A detailed SOP in this regard will be published by the Education Department by 31 August.
