Road closed for vehicular traffic from Bilpar to National Highway & Link Road: DDMA
June 20: In view of the continuous entry of water from Barak River into Silchar, the water level at various places of the town is rapidly rising and the speed of water flow is also very high. Considering the situation, it is very risky for vehicles (two wheelers/ three wheelers/ four wheelers) to ply through the route starting from Bilpar to National Highway through Rangirkhari Point & from Bilpar to Link Road point through Sonai Road. This was stated in a notification issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cachar cum CEO, DDMA, Cachar on 20 June, 2022.
The CEO of DDMA Cachar further stated, “With a view to further augment our efforts, with a view to safeguard the lives of people, vehicular traffic to, from and within the above mentioned area is hereby restricted for the next 24 hours by exercising the powers vested with District Disaster Management Authority under section 34, sub-section (b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005 w.e.f for the next 24 hours.”
