Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addresses legislators, launches Assam Legislative Assembly Digital TV
Dec. 24: In the first of its kind, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited Assam Legislative Assembly on Friday. It is for the 1st time in the history of Assam that Speaker of Lok Sabha has paid a visit to the Legislative Assembly of the state. Assembly Speaker, Biswajit Daimary welcome Om Birla in the Assembly. Apart from the Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, leader of the opposition Debabrata Saikia and representatives of other political parties also delivered speeches to welcome the Speaker of Lok Sabha.
Speaker Om Birla formally launched Assam Legislative Assembly Digital TV. In his address, the Speaker paid tributes to Gopinath Bordoloi, Bhupen Hazarika and all other legislators off the state, who had in the past worked relentlessly to uphold the spirit of democracy in the state. Addressing the house, OM Birla said that the legislators should be responsible for solving the problems of the public. He also praised the various aspects of Assam and said that the state indeed has got a great legacy of the past.

As per sources, Lk Sabha Speaker Om Birla is also supposed to attend Pratidin Time’s Achiever Awards as the Chief Guest to be held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra during the day. He will also visit Kamakhya Temple and will then return back to Delhi.
