Graded relaxation from 20 April, Guidelines to be issued on 15 April

April 14: Prime Minister Modi in his addresss to the nation on Tuesday morning extended the nationwide lockdown till 3 May, 2020. “‘Lockdown To Be extended till May 3,” said the Prime Minister. Proper guidelines on lockdown and its measures will be issued tomorrow (Wednesday), says PM Modi. He said, “Stay where you are, stay safe.” He said that there is no alternative in saving lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his address of the nation on Tuesday morning at 10 AM as the complete lockdown of the country ends today after 21 days. He said that India is doing well to tackle the coronavirus nation. He thanked people on the frontline of the Covid-19 battle. The integrated approach adopted by India has been able to contain the impact of coronavirus or else India would have met the same fate as some of the developed countries of the world. India has got a huge benefit by following ‘social distancing’. He also mentioned that though it might have cost our economy, but saving lives was most important at the first stroke.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is a country of festivals, referencing the various New Year festivals across states. “In the shackles of lockdown, the people of the country are following the lockdown with utmost patience, and are celebrating with simplicity, which is highly inspiring,” he says.

While extending the lockdown till 3 May, 2020, Prime Minister said that coronavirus should be curbed at every level. Even if one person dies due to coronavirus, our tension should increase. That is why hotspots have to be taken care of with extended vigilance, and take harsh steps to curb spread of coronavirus. If new hotspots arrive, our efforts will face problems.

A proper report on the lockdown and its measures will be issued on Wednesday, says PM Modi. Talking about daily wage workers, Modi says the new guidelines will be made keeping their interests in mind. Rabi crops cutting is on, and the measures will be taken to reduce their problems. PM Modi underlines 7 steps to be followed and urged upon the nation to observe these 7 steps:

  1. Take proper care of the senior citizens of your house, especially those with underlying problems.
  2. To help curb coronavirus spread, download Aarogya Setu application.
  3. Lockdown and social distancing should be properly followed. Home-made masks should be used.
  4. Increase your immunity by following directions given by Ayush Ministry.
  5. Wherever possible, help poor families.
  6. In your businesses, help your co-workers, don’t downsize people. He urged upon the employers not to fire any employees at this juncture.
  7. Referring the doctors, nurses, sanitation workers as Coronavirus ‘soldiers’, he urged upon all to respect them.

He said that till April 20, harsh steps will be taken to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the country. There will be careful surveillance of hotspots in the country. Till 20 April, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions. He said, “In case of any positive development in any particular area or district, we can give a conditional concession from April 20. In case of any violation, development of any new hotspots, those concession will be rolled back in those area.” The Prime Minister concluded his speech by wishing everyone good health against this coronavirus menace.
