Leo Club to organise lecture on Swami Vivekananda on Tuesday
November 26: To commemorate the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address, the Leo Club of Silchar Vision, the youth wing of Lions Club of Silchar Vision has organised a lecture programme on the topic “Swami Vivekananda: The Perennial Source of Inspiration to all Young Leaders.” The lecture will be delivered by Swami Sumanasananda, monk of the Ramakrishna Order, who is also the President of the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Durban. The Centre in Durban was founded in 1942 and was made a branch of Ramakrishna Mission in March 2007. Swami Sumanasananda is its President since July 2015.
The lecture programme has been organised by Leo at Silchar Ellora Heritage Assembly on 27 November 2018 (Tuesday) at 6 in the evening. Leo Tamal Chakraborty and Leo Subham Banik, the President and Secretary of the Leo Club of Silchar Vision has appealed to all section of the populace, especially the youth to attend the lecture programme.
On 11th September 1893 Swami Vivekananda, the disciple of Sri Ramakrishna delivered his first speech in the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago. Swami Vivekananda represented India and Hinduism at the Parliament of the World’s Religions (1893). This was the first World’s Parliament of Religions and it was held from 11 to 27 September 1893. Delegates from all over the world joined this Parliament. His lecture mesmerised the western world and opened the door of Eastern religion and philosophy for the West.
