Khel Maharan 2.0 : A grand sporting movement unites Cachar’s youth

way2barak, Nov 1: In a vibrant effort to boost sports at the grassroots level, Cachar District Commissioner , Mridul Yadav,convened a pivotal district-level committee meeting on Wednesday at the new conference hall of the Cachar DC Office. The gathering set the stage for “Khel Maharan 2.0,” an ambitious initiative aimed at propelling Cachar’s youth towards athletic excellence and fostering a strong sports culture across the district.
This enthusiastic movement, chaired by DC Yadav, was attended by notable officials, including Additional District Commissioners Yubaraj Borthakur and Van Lal Limpui Nampui, Superintendent of Police Numal Mahato, Additional SP (Headquarters) Subrata Sen, and Cachar’s District Sports Officer. Together, they outlined strategies to expand the program’s reach, ensuring a comprehensive and well-organized event that engages the youth of Cachar like never before.
With an impressive registration count of 1.76 lakh players, “Khel Maharan 2.0” has ignited unprecedented excitement throughout the district, underscoring the community’s robust support for sports development. Special focus is being given to enhance participation within the Borkhola, Sonai, and Dholai Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs), ensuring inclusivity by encouraging local youth to register and participate actively.
District officials have been diligent in identifying and preparing playgrounds across various gram panchayats (GPs) to facilitate seamless GP-level competitions, guaranteeing that athletes from every region of Cachar have access to quality sports facilities. In addition, committees have been established at the GP/Urban Local Body (ULB) and LAC levels to oversee event preparations, creating a structured foundation for this district-wide celebration of sports.
To maintain the highest standards of fair play, technical officials are being assigned to major events such as football, athletics, kabaddi, chess, and road cycling, ensuring each competition is overseen by experienced professionals who can guide the athletes.
Addressing the committee, DC Mridul Yadav conveyed the broader vision for Khel Maharan 2.0, stating, “This initiative is more than just a sports event; it’s a platform for our youth to showcase their talent and embrace sportsmanship. Together, we are laying the foundation for a sports culture in Cachar that fosters resilience, discipline, and teamwork.”
As “Khel Maharan 2.0” gains momentum, the residents of Cachar stand united to make it an iconic success, inspiring young athletes and reinforcing the district’s commitment to sports as a vehicle for holistic development.
