Kamalakhya rubbishes reports of joining BJP, says “Will be in Congress till my last day”

June 21: A news was circulated in some channels of Assam, wherein it was stated that Congress MLA from North Karimganj, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha is going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, such claims were rubbished by MLA Dey Purkayastha as blatant rumours. He alleged that the fake claim was not a news and rather an advertisement made by the BJP.

MLA  Kamalakhya said, “BJP wants to create confusion among the public and thereby win election taking advantage of it. I am a member of Congress. It’s upto me to decide which party I will belong to.  If anyone needs clarification on which party I will be, ask me directly. I will be in Congress party till the last day of my life.”

He further said that he believes in the ideology of the Congress. He said, Even if Congress asks me to stand as a ward member, I will readily agree to do so.” He accused that a section of BJP leaders, cadres and their IT Cell are carrying out propaganda for creating confusion among the voters. This they do just to win the election. They circulated the misinformation regarding me for this very reason.”
