Jyoti’s blockbuster Quiz & Debate contest at Silchar on 9 & 10 November

November 5: A Big Comeback – JYOTI the organization behind the famed Northeastern Regional Inter College Invitation Quiz & Debate is back with its Marquee event the NERICID & NERICQ on 9 and 10 November, 2019. Jyoti – a socio literary youth welfare organization associated with Blockbuster QUIZ and Debate Event in the 90″s is back and is all set to rule the hearts once again.

It is back in a bigger, brighter and better incarnation. North Eastern Regional Inter College Invitation Quiz (NERICQ) & North Eastern Regional Inter College Invitation Debate (NERICID), the two flagship events of Jyoti will be held at Silchar Rajiv Bhawan on 9 & 10 November, 2019 . With contestants form 9 states and over 40 Colleges / Institution / University vying for the coveted crown.

Once a very popular organization, JYOTI was one of the largest crowd puller in the height of its popularity in the 90s where the entire District Library Auditorium used to be packed for all days of the event. An organization conceived by mostly college goers, Jyoti was instrumental in pioneering many events and activities under it’s flagship like Merit test, free medical camps etc other than quiz and debate. However, due to certain exigencies the organization had to shelve it’s activities for some years.

But the founding members decided to bring back the literary culture with renewed vigour after a temporary lull Jyoti is again set to sail from November 2019, yet again. The Prizes for the great event worth Rs 2.25 Lacs will be given. For Quiz ( NERICIQ ) prizes amounting Rs 50000,Rs 30000 & Rs20000 will be given to 1st , 2nd & 3rd position holder respectively. For NERICID, prizes amounting Rs 30,000, Rs 20000, Rs 12000 will be given to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Teams. An amount of Rs 20,000, Rs10,000 & Rs 5000 will be given to the 1st 2nd and 3rd position holders.  Apart from these, there are many other prizes & rewards which will be given for both the events.

Dr Rajdeep Roy, present MP Silchar and an active member of Jyoti articulated – ” We are all ready to infuse in new blood into Jyoti. At present, the culture of quiz and debate is passing through a bad phase here in this region. The revival of Jyoti will definitely boost the youth.”

The speaker of NERICID final would be his Excellency Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland & Interlocutor of the Naga Peace Talks  R N Ravi. Mover of the motion would be ex-commonwealth inter university debate Runner up and Legendary Barak Valley Debator Prof Partha Sarathi Chanda and opposition Leader will be Mr Nilanjan Roy , Ex CEO, Times of India Group. The Motion of the Debate for NERICID final is ” Abrogation of Article 370 is a positive step.”  In NERICID Prelims, the motion would be ‘ Media is responsible for the rising intolerance in the country.”

Ravi Patwa , Vice president of Jyoti and one of its founding member said “After a long time, flagship event of jyoti is being oraganized again.
