Jagannath Singh College stands beside 45 distressed families at Udharbond
May 04: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic followed by the subsequent nationwide lockdown has brought life to a standstill. Though Lockdown 3.0 witnessed relaxation in green zones from 4 May, but the economy is yet to take its normal pace. Those depending on daily wage are probably the worst affected. Along with the govt, many individuals, organisations, business houses and institutions have come forward to help the poor and the needy at this hour of crisis. To add to this list is Jagannath Singh College of Udharbond.
On Tuesday, the Jagannath Singh College fraternity went to Mahadevbari area of Udharbond and stood besides 45 distressed families over there. They handed over essential grocery items to the people which included rice, dal, mustard oil, soyabean, salt and potato. Further, each one of them were given a soap and explained how to regularly wash their hands and maintain hygiene so that they could not be affected by the deadly coronavirus.
The people of the area were also made aware about wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Further, the teachers, staff under the guidance of college Principal ensured social distancing while distributing the relief. Present during the distribution of aid were S. Somorendra Singh, Principal of Jagannath Singh College of Udharbond, Assistant Professors- Anita Singh, Dr. Santosh Kumar Chaturbedi, Dr. Minhas Uddin Barbhuiya, Dr. Kaushik Nath, Librarian Dr. Susama Sharma along with non-teaching staff Sarmin Nahar, Soumen Sutradhar, Ajit Deb, Debashish Deb and Swapan Acharjee among others.
Expressing his views, S. Somorendra Singh, Principal of Jagannath Singh College expressed his thanks to both the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college for their wholehearted cooperation in organising the relief distribution.
