Jagannath Singh College Hosts Awareness Programme on Armed Forces Contribution

way2barak March 29 : Jagannath Singh College, in collaboration with the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Cachar, and the Army Recruitment Office, Silchar, organized a special awareness programme under the Governor of Assam’s Rashtriya Kritagyata evam Jagrookta Yojana. The event, held at the college premises, aimed at sensitizing students about the significant role of the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation and inspiring them to consider a career in the defense sector.

The programme was graced by Lieutenant Colonel Biswajit Sinha (Retd) as the chief guest, who addressed the gathering on various vital aspects of national security and the importance of discipline in shaping the youth. He emphasized that discipline is the foundation of a strong and progressive nation and encouraged students to adopt a disciplined lifestyle to contribute effectively to the country’s development.

Army personnel from the Army Recruitment Office, Silchar, provided valuable insights into the recruitment procedures of the Indian Armed Forces. They elaborated on the eligibility criteria, selection process, and various career opportunities available in the defense sector, motivating students to explore a career dedicated to national service.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S. Somarendro Singha, Principal of Jagannath Singh College. The proceedings were efficiently hosted by Dr. Shyam Mamud Barbhuiya, Assistant Professor and NSS Program Officer. Several faculty members, including Dr. Gongesh Bhattacharjee, Head of the Department, History, Dr. Minhaj Uddin Barbhuiya, Co- ordinator IQAC and Head Department of Economics, Anita Singh, Head Department of Manipuri, Dr. Santosh Kumar Chaturvedi, Head Department of Hindi, Dr. Swapan Das, Assistant Professor in Political Science, and Dilip Kumar Thakur, Assistant Professor in Hindi, were also present at the event, further enriching the discussions.

The awareness programme received an enthusiastic response from the students, who actively engaged with the speakers and sought clarifications on various aspects of military service. The session concluded on an inspiring note, with students expressing keen interest in exploring opportunities in the defense forces.
