way2barak, June 22 : A local court in Tripura on Thursday remanded an Iranian and a Bangladeshi national to five days police custody after the police arrested them for their suspected link with Pakistani militants, police officials said.

A senior police official said that the police on Wednesday arrested Iranian Yakub Yazdanbakhsh and Bangladeshi national Shahin Mondal at the Aswani market area under Amatoli police station on the outskirts of Agartala city.

No valid passports and travel documents were found while a mobile phone was confiscated from their possession.

Police found photos of Pakistani militant camps on the confiscated mobile phone.

The Iranian man told the police interrogators that he first went to Thailand then to Nepal and came to Bangladesh before entering into India illegally with the Bangladeshi intruder.

“We are thoroughly interrogating the duo and probing the matter with all seriousness,” the police official told.
