Towards a Covid-free Cachar: 99.9% of people here have taken 2 doses of vaccine: DC Jalli

Until and unless, WHO declares that the globe is Covid-free, we shall have to maintain Covid appropriate behaviour: MP Dr Rajdeep Roy

April 13: “It’s indeed a happy moment for Cachar district that as of now, 99.9% of eligible person have been administered two doses of Covid vaccine. This is indeed a big stride towards making Cachar a Covid-free district.” This was stated by Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli on Wednesday during the ‘Ceremonial felicitation programme on Covid Mukta Cachar – Surakshit Cachar and Kayakalp award distribution programme’ which was held at Gandhi Bhawan.

DC Jalli further stated that, “From 21 March to 31 March, 2022, a campaign was launched in Cachar under the name “Covid Mukta Cachar- Surakshit Cachar.” During the campaign, we  appealed to all citizens of Cachar who are yet to take the 2nd dose of vaccine to take it without delay. Today, I am happy to announce that 99.9% of the people of Cachar have taken 2 doses of vaccine which is indeed a saga of success of the campaign. Till now, 12,63,846 persons in Cachar have been administered the 2nd dose in Cachar.”

Participating in the programme, MP Silchar Dr. Rajdeep Roy said, “India has managed the Covid Vaccination programme very effectively to achieve 99% target due to which Assam has less mortality as compared to other states.” Adding a word of caution, Dr Roy said, “Until and unless, WHO declares that the globe is Covid-free, we shall have to maintain Covid appropriate behaviour.”

During the occasion, 50 health institutions including S.M. Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar, 24 Community Health Centre’s (CHCs) and Primary Health Centre’s (PHCs) and 25 Health & Wellness Centres (HWCs) were able to achieve KAYAKALP, a bench mark for quality services in health sector. The guests present handed over the prize to the staff of winning facilities.

“This is one of the output of seeds sown by our Prime Minister Sri Narandra Modi regarding Swachh Bharat, that these hospital areas are now clean and the staff are providing quality services,” said Bimolendu Roy, President of Cachar district BJP.  Appreciating the services rendered by the health staff, DC Jalli said that it is due to their tireless efforts that they had won laurels. “It is a matter of immense pride that 50 health facilities of the district got the awards”.

Under Ayushman Bharat Programme, Laptop sets were distributed to to aid tele-consultation services. Under this programme, people in villages can visit the nearest Health & Wellness Center (Sub-Center) and may avail specialized treatment from higher health institutions, called as HUB. This facility will minimize the time for treatment and the patient will get quality treatment.

The other dignities who graced the occasion were Khalil Uddin Mazumder, MLA, Katigorah, Amitab Rai, President ZPC Cachar, Dr. Ashutosh Bharman, Joint Director of Health Services Cachar, Dr. P. K. Roy Addl. CM&HO (FW) Cachar, Rahul Ghosh, DPM NHM Cachar.
