Integrated Tribal Development Project launched in Lakhipur Development Block
August 14: Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, launched the Integrated Tribal Development Project at Lakhipur Block on Thursday. The launching of the project was organized by North East India Committee on Relief and Development (NEICORD), the Project Implementing Agency at PMS Junior College, Hmawkhawlien.
The project is supported by NABARD for a period of six years to promote sustainable livelihood and income of the tribal farmers of Lakhipur Block by promoting sustainable farming. Addressing as chief guest, DC Jalli expressed her gratitude to NABARD for the support that would benefit the farmers of Lakhipur Block and NEICORD for taking the initiative to implement the project. She encouraged NABARD and the Project Implementing Agency to provide continuous support to the farmers and ensure that benefits of the project reach out to the intended beneficiaries. On behalf of the district administration, Jalli expressed her willingness to provide hand holding support to the project.
Assistant Commissioner, V. Aggarwal, District Development Manager, NABARD, Susanta Chakraborty, the Lead District Manager, Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Regional Manager of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Branch Manager of Central Bank of India, District Fishery Officer and District Veterinary Officer also addressed the gathering. The programme was attended by government officials, banks, village council, village headman, gaon panchayat and farmers along with NEICORD employees.
