Inner Wheel Club of Silchar undertake multiple projects in presence of District Chairman
Sept. 30: Inner Wheel Club of Silchar, a philanthropic organisation was seen to be involved into multifarious activities on Tuesday in presence of their District-324 Chairman Amita Mundra, who came to Silchar all the way from Gangtok. It was a day full of activities for the members of Inner Wheel Club (IWC), Silchar.
Silchar IWC members along with their District Chairman on Tuesday first visited the ‘Jeevandeep Old Age Home’ at Meherpur. At the home, they felicitated the supervisors for their relentless service of the elderly inmates. IWC also distributed clothes and various food items among the senior citizens present there. The inmates of the old age home expressed their gratitude to team IWC Silchar for spending time with them.
The next destination of Team IWC Silchar was ‘A.P Chanda Primary School’ located in Meherpur Silchar,where the club has their own Adult Literacy Center. The members along with the Chairman visited there and distributed clothes to almost 100 ladies present there. Chairman Amita Mundra also enquired the ladies about their ongoing studies and asked them several questions to test their knowledge, which was successfully answered by them.
On that very day, the Chairman also inaugurated a divider near Rangirkhari point, which has been taken up by the Club for plantation and branding purpose. Saplings were planted there by the members of IWC Silchar along with their District Chairman.
The final destination of the club members were the Central Jail, Silchar. District Chairman Amita Mundra along with Team IWC met all the inmates living there. An aluminium container for cooking food was donated by IWC. The huge container is enough to cook the food for almost 100 persons at a time. The members also distributed clothes, chocolates, soaps and various other items to the female and children inmates.
Later in the evening, both the Executive and the General meeting were held after which a cake cutting ceremony was held for the members celebrating their birthdays upto 28 September. The prizes for the Art competition held on the Independence Day was also given by their Chairman to the winners and certificates of participation were also distributed. A bulletin on the occasion of Chairman’s visit was released. The Rotary Club President Gautam Paul, Rotaract President Swapnil and other prominent members were also felicitated.
