Inner Wheel Club of Silchar comes forward to help the idol-makers during pandemic

Oct. 9: Covid 19 is not only a global pandemic and public health crisis, it has also severely affected the economy in almost all its facets. Significant economic impact has already occurred across the globe due to reduced productivity, loss of life and decimation of many industries including many small business. In its own capacity, Inner Wheel Club of Silchar has been relentlessly striving to stand besides the people at large during the pandemic.

On Thursday, Inner Wheel Club of Silchar (IWC) went around the town and interacted with some artists involved in the profession of making Idols. Due to the pandemic, this year , the idol-makers were facing immense hardships. For these people, Durga Puja is one such festival when their business witnesses immense activity. But this year, the demand of idols have also gone down. As such, IWC Silchar decided to stand besides the idol-makers.

The members of Inner Wheel Club went around Chandmari, Steamerghat Road and Bilpar where they provided food items like – rice, pulses, oil, spices and biscuits to the idol-makers. They also extended financial aid of Rs.2000 each to the idol-makers in these places of Silchar.

Present during the occasion were the President of Inner Wheel Club of Silchar Sutapa Bhattacharjee, Secretary Shilpi Ghosh and Pinki Garg.
