India’s 1st indigenous Aluminium Freight Rake flagged off by Railway Minister
way2barak, Oct.22: Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off India’s first indigenous Aluminium Freight Rake (61 BOBRNALHSM1) from Bhubaneswar Railway Station in Odisha on last Sunday, marking a significant step towards the fulfilment of Green Railways initiative.
India’s first aluminium rake with 80% salvage value, will serve a longer life of up to more than 10 years longer life Boost to the country’s aluminium industry than the existing steel rakes. The other features of India’s first indigenous Aluminium Freight Rake are: Reduction of over 14,500 tonnes of Carbon- dioxide emission over its lifetime by a single rake, Higher corrosion & abrasion resistance, 180 Tonnes extra carrying capacity resulting in higher throughput per wagon.
