India registers 1,79,723 Covid cases on Monday; Omicron tally goes upto 4,033

Jan. 10: India on Monday reported 1,79,723 new COVID-19 cases, the biggest one-day rise in cases after May 28, 2021. The daily positivity rate stood at 13.29 per cent, while 146 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. The Omicron tally, meanwhile, stood at 4,033, with Maharashtra (1,216) continuing to top the count.

Maharashtra has the highest active cases in the country at 2,05,973. It is followed by West Bengal with 78,111 active cases, Delhi with 60,733 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 51,335 cases. Karnataka has 49,631 active cases while Kerala has 35,601 cases.
