Illegal transportation of Indian Made Foreign Liquor foiled by State Excise at Silchar

January 07: In a major breakthrough, Assam State Excise Department officials foiled an attempt by miscreants of illegal transportation of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). On the basis of inputs from State Excise Intelligence Bureau, the officials conducted a successful raid on Tuesday at Silchar Railway Station and seized huge quantity of IMFL.

During the search operation, Assam State Excise Department officials recovered a mail van of the Indian Postal Department. There were many sacks inside the mail van contain tags of the postal department. On opening the sacks, the excise officials found bottles of IMFL instead of letters. The mail van from which IMFL was seized bearing number TR-01 J 1889 is registered with Tripura state transport. Investigation is on by the excise department to find out the staff involved in this matter.
