History revisited: 114-year-old Silchar Circuit House building gets a new plaque

August 21: Revisiting the past is indeed a matter of special interest for the learners of history. But for all and sundry, a journey down the memory lane,  many a times, seems to be quite refreshing. One such praiseworthy endeavour was undertaken by Cachar district administration in bringing forth the history and legacy of the yesteryear, which would act as a bridge of connectivity between the past and the future.

The 114 year old heritage building of Old Circuit House in Silchar was established in 1906-1907. It was built during the tenure of the then Deputy Commissioner, F.C. French. To restore the history of this heritage building,  a plaque was made for reviving the history and maintaining the record of the great legacy of Cachar district. This initiative was undertaken due to the initiative of Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. Such an endeavour would indeed bequeath to posterity the history of the area.
