Himanta walks the street of Silchar, Road Show draws huge crowd

April 13: Lok Sabha Election 2019 has acquired a high voltage campaigning as almost all major political parties are roping in star campaigners to attract votes in favour of their candidates. On Saturday evening, State Finance Minister & BJP heavy weight leader Himanta Biswa Sharma participated in a road show at Silchar to garner votes for the party candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy.

The road show began from Itkhola at around 5 in the late afternoon of Saturday. He was accompanied by Silchar BJP candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy, District BJP President Kaushik Rai, Kanad Purkayastha and almost all leaders of BJP at various levels. State Minister Parimal Suklabaidya joined the rally at Premtola point. However, Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul who came back to Silchar after treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi was not present in the rally.

As the town was already over-crowded with customers doing the last day purchase of reduction commodities, the road show further choked the streets of Silchar. Huge crowd was seen behind the leaders. The rally went through the major points of the town. The rally crossed Rangirkhari and went through Sonai Road. Everywhere people greeted Himanta with uttoriyo and gamosa. Finally, the rally entered through 1st Link Road and went through Hailakandi Road.
