Hailakandi administration enforces total lockdown, night curfew to contain COVID-19 pandemic

June 27: The Hailakandi district administration has enforced total lockdown in municipal and market places across the district to arrest further spread of COVID-19 pandemic. In an order issued to this effect on Friday

evening, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Megh Nidhi Dahal said the total lockdown would be strictly enforced in Hailakandi municipal area, Lala Town Committee area, Katlicherra, Algapur and Panchgram bazaar areas every Saturday and Sunday. The order stated that during the period of total lockdown, movement of people and vehicles would remain prohibited, barring those on essential and emergency services.

The order also stated that night curfew would also be strictly enforced from 7 pm to 7 am in all areas of the district, including rural areas until further orders. It warned that anyone violating the order would be liable to be prosecuted as per provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other provisions of law.
