FCRA licence of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation cancelled by the Govt

way2barak, Oct.23: The Union Government has cancelled the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF), a non-government organisation associated with the Gandhi family, for alleged violations of the foreign funding law. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had constituted a committee in 2020 to probe this. This decision has been taken on the basis of the report by the same inquiry committee.

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi is the chairperson of RGF while other trustees include former prime minister Manmohan Singh, former finance minister P Chidambaram, and members of Parliament Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The RGF was established in 1991. For many years, this foundation worked on important issues regarding health, science and technology, women, children and education, etc.
