Family planning fortnight launched in Cachar on the occasion of World population Day

July 11: World population day was observed in Cachar on Sunday. On this occasion, with strict adherence to Covid protocols, a programme was held at the conference hall of S.M Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar organised by the National Health Mission, Cachar. Additional Deputy Commissioner Health, Cachar , Eldrad Fahreim graced the occasion as the chief guest. Also present on the occasion were Joint Director Health Cachar, Dr Bimal Joyti Deb Sikdar, Additional Chief Medical Officer Cachar, Dr P.K Roy, Superintendent of SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar, Dr Jiten Singh Hazari, District Immunization Officer ,Dr Sumana Naiding, Incharge Urban Family Welfare, Dr Rima Patoa.

No description available.While speaking on the occasion, ADC Health Eldrad Fahreim said, “I express my concern over the rate at which the population is growing in the country. Various methods of family planning should be adopted to aware common people and for this, efforts should be taken by the ASHA workers and ANMs in the district.” He said “This time the number of family planning adoption should be doubled”.

No description available.Earlier, Dr. PK Roy, Additional Chief Health Officer of the district, explained the significance of the day and said that the World Population Day is a United Nations initiative that the entire world celebrates on 11 of July every year. Speaking on the history of the world population day, he said that the day was first celebrated in the year 1989 and the aim of this day is to create awareness about the exploding world population and importance of reproductive health.

Joint Director of Health, Cachar, Dr. Bimal Joyti Dev Sikidar also spoke on the occasion. He said that people from all walks of life should be made aware of the benefits of family planning. The number of adopters of family planning irrespective of caste, religion and caste should be increased. Later, two beneficiaries who adopted family planning last year were awarded by the NHM District Health Committee.

After waving the flag, ADC Health, Eldard Fahreim and Joint Director of District Health Department Dr. Bimal joyti Dev Sikidar launched the family planning fortnight. It’s worth mentioning that the places in the district where free family planning camps are being held in compliance with Covid protocols are Sonai Health Block on 12 and 14 July (Camp Silchar Medical College Hospital), 13 and 15 July, Dholai Health Block (Camp Silchar Medical College Hospital), 19 July Udharband and Silchar Urban (camp location Silchar Medical College Hospital), July 16 Borkhola Health Block (camp place Silchar Medical College Hospital), July 17 Bikrampur and Jalalpur Health Block (camp place Katigorah Model Hospital) and July 17 Harinagar and Lakhipur Health Block (Venue BMC Hospital, Alipur).
