Eviction drive in former DIG PK Dutta’s garden at Udharbond, 30 bighas of encroached land vacated

Dec. 2: Former DIG Prashant Kumar Dutta, one of the accused in the Assam Police Sub Inspector (SI) appointment scam, is currently in jail. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Cachar district administration carried out an eviction drive in his garden at Mamudpur in the Udharbond police station area of Cachar. The tea garden spread across 30 bighas of government land was encroached by the former DIG.

After the name of Prashant Kumar Dutta was involved in the question paper leak scam, it came out that he started a tea garden in Mamudpur of Udharband by encroaching 30 bighas of government land. Apart from the tea garden, he also built a luxurious bungalow on one side of the land; nursery and some other houses on the other side.

On the same day, the administration uprooted several thousand tea tree saplings from the nursery and demolished a concrete house and another mud house with an excavator. According to the Circle Officer, the eviction drive was carried out on the instructions of the district magistrate. He said PK Dutt had occupied 30 bighas of government land to build a garden, which was vacated during the day after a thorough investigation into the matter.
