Eviction drive at Sanjay Market

way2barak, January 27:–In a concerted effort to uphold municipal regulations and restore civic order, the Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC), in coordination with the Cachar District Administration, carried out an eviction drive on Tuesday at Sanjay Market in Rangirkhari to remove unauthorized encroachments from the bustling commercial area. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Phunlalngir Chorei, ACS, Executive Magistrate, Cachar, and Siddharth Kumar, ALRS, Circle Officer (A), Silchar Sadar Revenue Circle and Executive Magistrate, with the Sadar Police deployed to ensure maintenance of law and order during the exercise.
During the drive, an unauthorized bamboo structure erected within the market premises was dismantled, paving the way for improved pedestrian movement and safer use of public space. The authorities stated that such encroachments not only violate municipal norms but also pose potential safety hazards and inconvenience to the general public in high-footfall areas like Sanjay Market.
However,Officials stated that the joint initiative of the SMC and the Cachar District Administration reflects a proactive approach towards disciplined urban governance, with emphasis on transparency, coordination and adherence to rules. The administration also reiterated its resolve to carry out similar enforcement measures in other parts of the town, while appealing to citizens and traders to cooperate and comply with municipal regulations in the larger interest of maintaining a clean, safe and orderly urban environment.
