11 vehicles were seized during the drive at Hospital Road
Sept. 29: Traffic congestion has become a routine affair in Silchar, especially in the Municipal areas of the town. Very often vehicles are parked in such a place which creates chaos in the streets and thereby gives rise to artificial vehicular traffic. Lack of proper parking places in major areas of Silchar is definitely a genuine cause which the civic authorities have evaded since good number of years. Moreover, when huge private vehicles are parked haphazardly, the problem of traffic congestion becomes multiplied.
Over and above, the common people now have also become frustrated at the excessive fare charged by the e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws in Silchar. Such allegations are made off and on by the commuters. It is in this backdrop that Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar instructed the concerned departments to take immediate necessary action against those who are involved in illegal parking and also against the three-wheelers charging excessive fare from the passengers.
