Enforcement drive conducted against e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws for charging excessive fare

Sept. 20: In a bid to regulate traffic congestion amid the outbreak of novel coronavirus, enforcement drive was undertaken in various points of Silchar by the District Transport Officer (DTO) along with his team. The drive was undertaken at Sadarghat point, near Gandhi Bagh. The enforcement drive was undertaken against e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws for charging excessive fare and against non compliance of social distancing.

During the drive, many such e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws were found who blatantly violated COVID-19 norms. Many passengers also complained against the 3-wheelers for charging excessive fare. As a result, till now, a total amount of Rs. 40,000 was realised from such erring drivers for offences related to violation of COVID-19 protocol and also for charging excessive fare
