Election Commission moved against CM Sonowal by APCC

December 4: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) accused Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for violating the model code of conduct imposed on the face of Panchayat Elections 2018. In a letter addressed to State Chief Election Officer, APCC General Secretary Ranjan Bora alleged that Sonowal has violated the norms by holding a public meeting in the premises of a school during school hours on Monday.

Ranjan Bora has alleged that a public meeting was held in the premises of Deomornoi Higher Secondary School in Darrang district during school hours. He claimed that the meeting was held between 10 AM to 3.30 AM. In the written complaint to the commission, it was further stated that on that day the Principal of the school Akshay Kumar Nath suspended the classes at about 12 noon, thereby facilitating the BJP to hold the meeting smoothly.

Senior Congress leader Jaynath Sarma was highly critical of the Chief Minister and alleged that Mr. Sonowal has violated the model code of conduct.
