Education Officer in Kamrup rural caught red-handed while accepting bribe
Aug. 17: In another instance of accepting bribe and getting caught red handed occurred in Assam. In one such incident on Wednesday, the sleuths of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam arrested the Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) of Rani village in Assam’s Kamrup district. The arrested officer was identified as Lachit Basumatary. The Education Officer demanded bribe for updating the service book and issuing LPC. The sleuths of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption laid a trap and nabbed the officer red-handed.
Further, Rs. 1 Lakh has been recovered from his Bolero vehicle parked outside the office. House search is also being carried out.

Informing this, GP Singh, Special DGP L&O, Border, Director V&AC tweeted, “BEEO of Rani, District Kamrup Rural Sri Lachit Basumatary demanded bribe for updating the service book and issuing LPC. He has been trapped and arrested red handed today by @DIR_ VAC_ ASSAM.”
