ED arrests TMC Minister Partha Chatterjee a day after recovering huge cash from his close aide

July 23: In a sensational development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday arrested West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, a day after the central probe agency seized Rs 20 crore in cash from the premises of his close associate Arpita Mukherjee, in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam in the state.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Partha Chatterjeee was the education minister when the alleged illegal recruitments were made. Chatterjee, currently the state’s industry minister, was arrested by the ED officials from his residence in Kolkata. As per reports, Arpita Mukherjee was also detained by the ED.

A total of 13 teams of the ED with 90 officials have conducted parallel raids in 14 places in different parts of the state, starting Friday early morning. The search team is taking the assistance of bank officials for the counting of cash through cash counting machines.
