Petrol, diesel prices hiked for 9th time in a row

June 15: Following nine days of successive price hikes, fuel rates are now at their highest level in more than a year. The price of petrol was hiked by 46 paise a litre today while that of diesel by 59 paise a litre today. Rates have been increased across the country and vary from state to state depending on the incidence of local sales tax or VAT.

In nine hikes, petrol price has gone up by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 5.23 – a record increase in rates in any nine days since the daily price revision was introduced. Petrol price in Delhi was revised to Rs 76.26, up from 75.78 per litre the previous day, while diesel rates were increased to Rs 74.62 a litre from Rs 74.03, according to a price notification of state oil marketing companies.
